The Story of the Second Voice

One day there lived a boy named Bochock who was always afraid. He was afraid of the dark, the door, the electric fan, the oven, the dog, and everything the mind and create. During his grade school graduation, he was asked to give a speech on the importance of going to school and he heard a voice say “Don’t do it, they will laugh at you and will not listen to you!” At one time, he was asked to play the piano during their class recital but the voice said “Don’t practice so the teacher will not ask you to play!” For Bochock, this voice seemed to grow louder and louder until one day, he was listening to no one else but that scary voice within.

So Bochock went to his mother one day and asked her what to do. Her mother said, “Have you tried praying to Jesus?”.

“Yes”

“And what did you hear?”

“Nothing. That voice within kept on shouting that nothing will happen if I pray”

“Try harder Son and ignore that voice and soon you will clearly hear the voice you really want to hear”.

So Bochock prayed every minute of the day and tried hard to listen to the voice of hope and courage which was covered by years of fear of rejection.

Soon, Bochock was asked to play the part of Shylock the merchant for the school play about Shakespeare. He once again heard the voice say “Don’t accept the part, you will fail!”

As Bochock tried harder and harder to ignore the voice, another voice kept ringing louder and louder into his mind until it enveloped his whole being. The other voice was saying, “Be not afraid, you will succeed. Face your fear and it will go away…” He kept repeating these words over and over and over until it was the only thing he could hear.

Afterwards, Bochock became a new person.

Whenever felt any sign of fear creeping into his mind, he would immediately say, “C’mon fear and make my day!”

In life, we are constantly faced with challenges that oftentimes seem to big for us to conquer. Let us remember that no challenge is big enough for us not to handle as long as God is on our side. Let’s face all our fears, and it will easily disappear as fast as it came.

The end.
